Privacy Policy
Our apps keep your data on your device. This page explains exactly what each app and this website do.
On this page
Summary
In short:
- Verified by Microsoft. Every app is published only through the Microsoft Store, where Microsoft checks it for security and policy compliance before release and for each update.
- Your data stays on your device. Our apps are designed to keep everything they read or create on your PC. We do not run servers that receive your data.
- No telemetry. Our apps contain no analytics, tracking libraries or telemetry SDKs of any kind.
- No account needed. You never have to sign up or sign in to use an app. Purchases go through your Microsoft Store account.
- We never sell or share your data. We have no data to sell, and we would not if we did.
This policy covers the Windows apps published by Zero Byte Software Solutions ("Zero Byte", "we", "us") on the Microsoft Store, and this website, netspeedm.com. Where an app needs the internet for a feature you start, such as a speed test, its section below says so plainly.
How Our Apps Handle Your Data
The following applies to every Zero Byte app. Some apps add details in their own section below.
Verified and security-checked by Microsoft
Our apps are distributed only through the Microsoft Store. Before an app or an update is published, Microsoft certifies it: the package is scanned for malware and checked against the Microsoft Store Policies, including its privacy and security requirements. Apps run in the Windows app model, which limits what they can access to the capabilities declared in the Store listing, and they are updated automatically by the Store. We do not offer downloads from other sources.
Designed to keep all data on your device
Our apps are designed to keep all data on your device. Settings, history, logs, scan results, caches and anything else an app creates are stored in your Windows user profile (the app's local data folder) or in a file you choose to save. This data is protected by Windows' own file permissions. We do not operate any server that receives it, and it is never uploaded, synced or backed up to us.
You stay in control: you can delete an app's data at any time from Settings > Apps > Installed apps > [app] > Advanced options > Reset, or by uninstalling the app, which removes its local data.
Device information for stability
Upon installation or update, an app may read limited, non-personal device information, such as the Windows version, screen resolution, DPI scaling and the installed .NET runtime version, solely to ensure stable operation (for example, to size its windows correctly or use features your Windows version supports). This information is used locally only and is never transmitted.
No telemetry
Our apps contain no analytics, tracking libraries or telemetry SDKs of any kind. They do not report usage statistics, crash data, device identifiers, file names, readings or results to us or to anyone else. There are no tracking pixels, no advertising identifiers and no data brokers.
When an app connects to the internet
Most apps work fully offline. An app connects to the internet only for a feature that needs it, and only when you use that feature, for example a speed test, an IP address lookup or a download you start. These connections send only what the feature technically requires (such as your request and your IP address, which every internet connection reveals). The service involved is named in the app's own section below. Windows and the Microsoft Store also connect to Microsoft to install and update apps; that is covered by Microsoft's privacy statement.
Purchases, Pro and Premium
Upgrades are sold only through the Microsoft Store. Microsoft processes the payment and confirms your license to the app through the Windows Store licensing service on your device. We never receive your card details, your Microsoft account password, or your e-mail address from a purchase. We may see aggregated, anonymous sales reports that Microsoft provides to all publishers. See the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Permissions
Apps only use the Windows capabilities listed on their Microsoft Store page, and only for the feature described. Apps that read sensitive information, such as saved Wi-Fi passwords or your clipboard, state exactly what they access in their own section below. That information is shown to you on your PC and is never sent anywhere.
Security
Because your data stays on your PC, its safety depends mostly on your device. We keep apps up to date through the Microsoft Store, use the secure Windows APIs for sensitive data, and use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for the features that go online.
App-Specific Details
Each app's section below lists exactly what it reads, what it stores on your device and when, if ever, it connects to the internet. The rules in How our apps handle your data apply to every app as well.

This Website
netspeedm.com is a static information website. It has no user accounts, no comment forms and no contact forms, so it does not ask you for personal information.
Cookies and analytics
We use optional analytics (such as Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) only if you choose Accept analytics in the cookie banner. Until you accept, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics scripts load. If you accept, these services collect anonymous usage information, such as the pages you visit, the link you came from, your browser and device type and an approximate location derived from your IP address, to help us see which pages help people. You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.
Advertising
The website shows ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are asked for consent by Google's own message before personalized ads are shown. You can turn off personalized ads at any time in Google Ad Settings, and read how Google uses this information in How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
We do not sell visitor data. Links to the Microsoft Store include a campaign code (cid) that tells us, in
anonymous totals, which page a Store visit came from.
Local storage
The site stores a few preferences in your browser, such as your theme (light or dark) and your cookie choice. They stay in your browser and are not sent to us.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider keeps short-term technical logs (IP address, requested page, time, browser) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are not used to identify you and are deleted automatically.
Your Rights
Because our apps keep data on your device and we do not collect personal data, we generally hold no personal data about you to access, correct, export or delete. Everything an app stores is under your control on your PC and can be removed at any time, as described in Designed to keep all data on your device.
If you e-mail us, we use your message and address only to reply, and you can ask us to delete that correspondence at any time. Wherever you live, including the European Union and United Kingdom (GDPR), California (CCPA/CPRA) and other places with privacy laws, you can contact us with any privacy request and we will respond within the time the law requires.
Children's Privacy
Our apps and website are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live). Since the apps process data only on the device, they send nothing about their users to us. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example by e-mail, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
If an app or this website changes how it handles data, we update this page before the change is released and change the
"Last updated" date at the top. Important changes are also mentioned in the app's release notes in the Microsoft Store.
The per-app anchors on this page (for example /privacy-policy#net-speed-meter) never change, because the
Microsoft Store listings link to them.
